We are trying to organize for our USA guests a post workshop guided tour to Jerusalem on Wednesday March 12, 2014.
The general program is as follows:
7:30 – Pick up by the tour bus at the Tel Aviv Dan Panorama hotel.
12:00 – 13:00 Lunch at a local restaurant in the Jerusalem Old City.
17:00 or later – End of tour and transfer to Jerusalem Dan Panorama hotel.
The places that will be visited include:
Drive to Mt of Olives for panoramic scene of Jerusalem.
Enter the Old City via the Lion’s Gate, and walk through the Muslim and Christian Quarters via the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, to uncover the roots of Christianity, and the centrality of Jerusalem to the Christian Faith. Stop en route for a view down onto the Temple Mount the site of the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.
Walk along the Rooftops of the Old City for a behind the scenes look at the various communities in Jerusalem and how they live together.
Continue to the Jerusalem Archaeological Park with a guided visit to the Southern Wall Excavations at the Davidson Centre, followed by time at the Kotel (Western Wall).
Ascend to the center of the Jewish Quarter, stopping at: The Cardo, a Byzantine street that is now the world’s oldest shopping arcade, The Hurva Square, the central square of the Jewish Quarter.
Continue to Mt Zion, the location of the burial of King David according to Jewish, Christian and Islamic tradition, as well as the Room of the Last Supper, according to Christian tradition.
Guided visit through the Yad Vashem complex, the Jewish National Memorial to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, including: The Avenue of the Righteous, the new Historical Museum, and the Children’s Memorial.
The price per person of the tour depends on the number of participants, and ranges from USA$ 162 per person for a group of 10 participants, to USA$ 102 per participant for a group of 20 participants.
Please respond to sustain@tx.technion.ac.il in order to sign up for this tour (please include information regarding accompanying persons if relevant). The minimal number of participants for organizing the tour is a group of 10 persons at least. We thus need to know who will attend ASAP.
Payment for this tour will be in cash only, and delivered to the guide on the day of the tour.
